If Heather wins the Tournament of Chance, she’ll be the first commoner to earn a place at court. Instead of a glorious victory, however, she’s arrested and marked for execution. After a daring escape, she joins the Dragon Rebels, who seek to overthrow the despotic monarchy and restore the former kingdom of Ormaria. Amongst the rebels are three shape-shifting wizards who claim to be rulers from the past. On a perilous quest to free the wizards’ magic, Heather battles wild dragons, vicious predators, angry trolls, and unexpected traitors. When a horrendous accident sends her back in time to fulfill a mysterious prophecy, she must rely on her warrior skills, wits, and endurance to survive.
From television star to inter-dimensional traveler, will Dani manage to find her way back home with her heart intact?
After Dani is kidnapped by Odin’s Ravens and taken to Asgard, she becomes enmeshed in a quarrel between immortals. Worse, when the theft of a magical artifact becomes an explosive political debacle, accusations of blame turn her into an outlaw. To avert disaster–and to save the man she’s come to love–she must undertake a dangerous quest involving ogres, dark fairies, and underworld criminals. Ultimately, however, she’ll have to defy Odin himself.
Young Prince Lee can’t talk to girls at all until he meets Jona Haever. His aunt, Queen Gaia, invites Jona to the castle for the summer to help Lee practice social graces. Although Her Majesty makes it clear Jona is no better than a servant, Jona and Lee become best friends. When the summer comes to a close, the two continue to correspond through a pair of magical boxes conjured by the Wizard Farland. Nine years later, Jona and Lee are closer than ever, but any romantic feelings between them are forbidden by law. Are the differences between a prince and a commoner too large to overcome, or are they just a matter of magical misperception?
The king tried to kill her. Now it’s her turn to repay the favor.
For years, Heather dedicated herself to winning a tournament that turned out to be a sham. Worse, by revealing the truth, she becomes a hunted enemy of the king. Well, two can play that game. The skills she’s honed as an archer are the exact ones she’ll use to level the playing field…and this time she has shape-shifting dragons on her side.
Tournament of Chance: Dragon Rebel is on sale (from $2.99 to $0.99) this week, through September 24th. (US & UK only)
Excerpt:
Suddenly a flock of birds rose from a rocky shelf down below and streaked toward the dragons in a hostile mass. As the birds drew closer, Heather gasped. “Those aren’t birds, they’re flying reptiles!”
“Uh-oh,” Manny said.
“Boratures. They are very dangerous,” Shimmer said.
“Those must be nesting grounds,” Joe called out. “Go faster.”
The boratures were the size of sheep, with a tough hide covering their impressive wingspan. Their long and narrow heads ended with pointed beaks that appeared to be unpleasantly sharp. Heather guessed their long talons were equally lethal. She shuddered to think what they would do to her skin. Although the creatures were far smaller than dragons, they numbered in the hundreds. Even worse was the incredible speed with which the boratures were closing in from behind. Forced to split apart, Shimmer and Manny headed straight up, and Dane angled lower.
“Hold very tight, Heather. I’ll lose them in the trees.”
She flattened herself against Dane’s neck as he hurtled through the forest. Unfortunately, the boratures overtook him and began to claw at his wings. As their vicious talons opened gash after gash in Dane’s hide, he flinched. With a keening cry and a barrel roll, he shot upward once more. Heather’s grip loosened, and then she could hold on no longer.
Thick foliage slapped her in the face as she descended through the trees. A vine briefly broke her fall, but she continued downward when it snapped. Finally her desperate fingers found purchase on a leafy branch. She dropped down to the next branch, and so on, until she managed to reach the ground.
Stunned and dazed, a sharp pain in her midsection made it difficult for her to breathe. Cuts and scratches marked her flesh everywhere, and something warm and wet was trickling down her face. Shaking badly, her knees finally gave way. Several minutes passed before she calmed down enough to assess her situation. Of one thing she was absolutely certain; Dane wasn’t coming back and she was on her own.

The creaking of the dungeon door made Heather flinch. To her surprise, Joe appeared.
“How did you get in here?” she whispered.
“I stole the key. You’ve got to go now.”
“I’ll be executed if I’m caught trying to escape!”
“I hate to break it to you, but you’re going to be executed either way. The commoners are right angry about the tournament. You’ve become a symbol now, and a danger to the monarchy.”
Heather followed him out of her cell and into the unoccupied corridor. As they crept through the dungeons, she expected Joe to lead her up the stairs. She winced when he lifted a heavy metal grate and slipped into a sewer trench instead. With few other options, she did likewise. They sloshed through the smelly waste, toward a sliver of light she guessed led to the outside.
“Do you swim?” Joe asked.
“Huh?”
“The castle is built on a cliff, and this trench spills down into the ocean below. We’ll have to jump from the opening to escape.”
“What!” Heather only had a moment for his words to register because a cacophony of shouting and torchlight at the far end of the trench indicated they’d been discovered.
“Oops,” Joe said. “Be sure to dive away from the cliff so you don’t get crushed on the rocks below.”
He bounded the last few feet and launched himself fearlessly out into space. Heather blanched as he dove into the ocean, a hideously long way down. When an arrow whizzed past her ear, she could hesitate no longer. Bending her knees, she jumped with all the strength she could muster.
When King Chance cheats Heather out of a victory in his prestigious archery competition, he stokes the fire of a simmering uprising. She joins the Dragon Rebels, a secretive group of freedom fighters dedicated to reinstating the Ormvalder monarchy of old. Although Heather’s relationship with rightful heir Dane Ormvalder is tumultuous, they begin a dangerous quest together to restore the kingdom’s magical power. Unfortunately, an unexpected explosion sets in motion a revolution—in time.
Excerpt:
From the unappetizing quantity of fur and gore on the turtle rock, it appeared the trolls had gutted and skinned the tiger there, and cooked some of the meat over the still-glowing firepit nearby. Although Heather longed to rest, the smell of the place turned her stomach. Leaving the campsite, she continued to climb up the trail. The rank odor of the slaughtered animal followed her.
A few minutes later, a blue dragon appeared from the north. With her heart in her throat, she yelled as loud as she could, waving her arms to get Dane’s attention. When he veered in her direction she was overjoyed. After six other dragons joined him during his descent, however, Heather’s ebullience turned to horror. A flock of wild dragons was headed straight for her, and on the open trail there was nowhere to hide.
Gritting her teeth against the pain in her side, she hurtled down the trail, past the turtle rock. At random, she picked one of the lava tunnels and darted inside. Heather hoped the dragons would leave once they lost their prey. Unfortunately, the smell of blood at the campsite sent the animals into a frenzy. The dragons’ piercing, trumpeting cries echoed down the tunnel, forcing Heather to cover her ears. The creatures attacked the rock face with their claws, chipping off bits and pieces of granite. Heather backed further into the darkness, but when she heard one of the dragons inhale, she ran. A fireball followed…

What Amazon readers are saying:
“It’s fast paced and fascinating! I loved Heather, and Dane, and Jo, and Shimmer, and…You know, I loved everyone. This was a completely developed world.” – Kaitlin
“I was riveted by Heather’s story. SG Rogers kept me on the edge of my seat because of her fast pacing – I just had to know what happened next.” – Muddy Rose Reviews
“[A] captivating story about a young girl who crashes through the crystal ceiling of the kingdom she lives in by challenging the upper class in the Tournament of Chance. Heather is a plucky, strong character who will appeal to young adults… It’s fabulous!” – Anteater1982
“What Reviewers are saying:
“I loved this book! It is fast-paced and engaging, and I honestly couldn’t put the book down! The characters were very real and I grew to love them. I admired Heather’s perseverance, and how she continued to come up with new solutions when the original plan failed. This has fantasy mixed in with time travel, which made for a fun, unique twist on the genre. Usually, I get a little confused with time travel tales, but not with this one. With each time period, more and more of the story was connected, and more aspects of the tale were explained. I loved seeing all the characters having to put their differences and backgrounds aside to work together to overthrow an evil king. This is fantasy at its finest, with kings and dragons, princesses and tournaments, and of course, magic and romance! Rogers is a talented writer, and I will definitely be reading more of her books.” – The Reading Retreat
“I loved every character in this book. Dane was very swoon-worthy. I loved how the relationship between Heather and Dane wasn’t rushed. I loved watching both characters grow and develop in this story. They both changed for the better. Heather was no damsel in distress and that is what I loved about her. She was able to throw a knife and shoot arrows better than anybody. Manny was hilarious!!! He has a great since of humor. Shimmer was very wise. He was a great leader to follow. I was glad Jovander got to meet Heather again after 8 years. There wasn’t a character I didn’t like. Each had something I loved about them.” – Ever and Ever Sight
“I really love how unique all the ideas in this book are. It’s not your basic fantasy and magic novel. It has a unique foundation in which S.G. Rogers enthralls you from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go. You experience emotions all over the spectrum and S.G. makes you really believe these are living, breathing characters. She paints a beautiful story that I just did not want to end.” – Book Worm Brandy

A vast chessboard spread out on the lawn next to the castle gardens. The king sipped a glass of chilled white wine as he finished his move.
“Ponder that, my dear Lord Survill,” he crowed.
“My word, Your Majesty, you’ve got me on the run,” Survill exclaimed.
Various young pages stood on the checkered lawn, in chess piece costumes. Although a shady canopy had been set up for the king and his opponent so they could play their game in comfort, the pages waited in the fierce sunlight. As sweat dripped from underneath their hot and heavy paper-maché headdresses, the boys struggled to stand at attention.
Minister Uspy hastened from the castle toward the chessboard.
“Please forgive the interruption, Your Majesty, but I have news.”
King Chance’s brow creased in annoyance. “Has Jovander or that wretched girl been located? Hester, wasn’t it?”
“Heather is the name. They both have vanished, Your Majesty. And I’m afraid that Lord Embrue has not returned from Jagged Peaks, nor the soldiers that accompanied him,” Uspy said.
King Chance waved his fingers, dismissively. “No doubt they have fallen into a game of cards or a bit of debauchery somewhere. Embrue’s success at Merrymouth may have gone to his head.”
“That’s entirely possible, Your Majesty; however Embrue’s steed was found wandering the countryside yesterday. Several mounts from the king’s army have turned up as well,” Uspy said.
“Send Lord Tether with the cavalry to question the villagers about Embrue. If you get no answers, burn Jagged Peaks down.”
“And if the villagers cooperate?”
“Burn it anyway. The commoners must understand I am in charge.”
Uspy left. King Chance returned his attention toward the chessboard, where his bishop had just keeled over from sunstroke. “I’m going to need a new bishop. Drag that boy to the dungeon and beat him for having spoiled the game.”
